When the cruise jetty was complete by some 60%, hurricane Omar hit the Island in mid October 2008 without any warning from the South American coast. It severely damaged the Cruise jetty structure, sending beams and slabs to the sea-bottom and causing damage beyond repair, resulting in a delay to the construction works of some 3.5 months. (ref. Working with both jack-ups at the Cruise Jetty.

The jack-up barge in the background is piling the jetty for the cruise liners. The jack-up barge in the foreground is placing the 40 ton concrete beams for the top slab, where all the guests can disembark the liners and walk to shore. The dredger is seen in background and the sheet pile and anchoring works can be seen in the foreground.
